From an early age, my curiosity of the unknown universe forged my path in storytelling. In the early ‘90s the confluence of art, information, and technology became the perfect storm for the germination of ideas that continue to inspire my research today. With over 25 years of creative experience as a multimodal media producer, experience designer, and educator.

My academic research at UT Austin, Communication/RTF (BS 2000) and New York University, Interactive Telecommunications Program (MPS 2003) focused on communication theory, information technology, and media development and production. During my education I mentored with visionary producer Tommy Pallotta on films (Waking Life), music videos (Destiny, In the Waiting Line), and the interactive sci-fi mystery (Amnesia Moon) for Microsoft R&D. Over the next decade, I developed my skills in indie/studio development, broadcast, commercial production and XP design.

In 2007, I decided to focus exclusively on my personal creative vision. As a result, my first documentary, DMT: The Spirit Molecule, premiered in 2011. Based on Dr. Rick Strassman’s research and book, DMT: TSM unravels the mysteries of Dimethyltryptamine through the convergence of science and spirituality. Following the response, Mitch developed the DMTRMX Project, an open-source media library and emergent storyworld that inspired his transmedia platform MYTHAPHI [mith-uh-fai]. Also Producer feature docs: A New Understanding, From Shock to Awe, and The Way of the Psychonaut. Also directed / produced companion docs Ayahuasca and Huachuma.

 

My ongoing fascination with cultural evolution and the planetary future has led to speaking engagements at conferences (Bioneers, SXSW) festivals such as Burning Man, and organizations like the Institute of Noetic Sciences. I hope my work inspires audiences pushing the boundaries of storytelling and our understanding of the human experience.
